WHO IS ANTOINE COUSOT
SAILOR, GEOSCIENTIST, ADVENTURER
A ntoine Cousot is from Vendée, resident of L'île de Noirmoutier. Born on May 9, 1971, he grew up in Saint-Jean de Monts on the Atlantic coast south of Brittany. At 20, without a penny in his pocket or diploma, he crossed his first ocean on a sailboat with the desire to go and see by himself what is on the other side of the horizon. Being a thorough and avid reader, maritime literature has greatly contributed to nourishing this philosophy of life at sea.
For more than 15 years, he travelled the world, and led a wandering life rich of experiences and encounters. Passionate about the sea, he travels through the oceans with the same desire to explore, learn and share.

A t the age of 35, this outdoors lover finds his way back to school and takes distance learning courses at The Open University in England and then at Harvard, USA. With a Master of Earth Sciences in his pocket, Antoine moved to Scandinavia and worked 8 years for the Danish giant Maersk. In 2015, at the announcement of the creation of the Golden Globe race, Antoine ends an international career in order to realize his dream... going around the world solo with no stop and no assistance.
Having three young children, Eliot, Apolline and Titouan, Antoine emphasizes the importance of this decision and the challenge of a long absence for the family during this non-stop race around the world. With the support of his wife, Evangeline, the children will write a logbook so that this adventure is also theirs and they can share it with their father on his return.
